Very Nice Free Blogger and Wordpress Template

Barring my problems with transferring this domain to a new registrar, the Third World Geek still managed to come across some templates that are worthy of a second look.

1. Genesis Theme for Blogger and Wordpress - I like this theme for its simplicity and its balance. If you’re into Google adsense as well, you can easily put in your ads for your blogs. Don’t be put off by the screenshot here. I suggest you visit the demo blog and see how nice it looks. I am even using this for one of my free blogger blogs and I have to say it looks so damn fine. Have a gander at my site here ==> The Puncher’s Chance.

As I mentioned this theme is available for both Blogger and Wordpress users. If you’re into blogger, this is definitely worth a try. For my cyberfriends who still insist on using either Blogger’s classic templates or those two-column ones, maybe it’s time to shift to a three-column format. You know there was a time when three-column templates were once referred to as the holy grail of templates. Sure you don’t want to experience this? You know who you are guys. C’mon, give in to the 3-column side. lol.

2. Evolution WP Theme - This is a wordpress theme that looks oh so clean. If you’re into simplicity and all that two-column funtionality, then this is the template that you have been waiting for. Just check out the sidebar with its functional RecentPost/Categories/Archives sections and you’ll see how function has been seamlessly merged with its utter simplicity. I also like the footer where you can put in your choice WP plugins/widgets. The font used is awesome as well, very easy in the eyes and yet very elegant.

Don’t just look at the screenshot though, visit the demo page and take it for a spin. You might like what you discover.

2009 Nissan GT-R

[ad#ad-4]
It’s seldom that I gush over a car, but for one that’s reasonably priced, I can’t help but salivate over the prospect of owning one.

This video is that of the 2009 Nissan GT-R.  At $77,000 I think it’s very reasonable for it’s price. Don’t you think?

The 2009 Nissan GT-R is the sports-car value of the year, if not the decade—a car under 80 grand whose performance matches that of a $200,000 supercar. Engineers scrutinized every component to squeeze out more performance while saving weight and money. Inside the twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V6’s aluminum engine block, the walls surrounding the pistons receive a coating that dissipates heat better than the typical, heavier cast-iron linings. The engine produces 480 horsepower and hurls the GT-R from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds—quicker than a Lamborghini Gallardo. The GT-R tops out at 193 mph, making it one of the fastest cars on the road, and you don’t have to be a professional driver to tap its potential. A twin-clutch system, rare in a car at this price, handles gearshifts, and an adjustable shock-absorber system can stiffen up so that the GT-R feels like a Ferrari F430. Finally, the videogame-inspired control panel displays arcana like steering angle and brake-pedal pressure, giving the driver more detailed information and more control than any other car. Now that Nissan has proven that it can be done, expect more accessible, technology-rich supercars in the years ahead. $77,000; nissanusa.com - from popsci.com

Kizuna - The Fastest Internet From Space

Popular Science (www.popsci.com) recently included JAXA Kizuna Broadband Satellite as one of the Best of What’s New 2008 under the aviation and space category.  Below is the excerpt from the site;

Kizuna, launched by the Japanese space agency JAXA in February, will deliver to remote areas of Japan and Southeast Asia the fastest satellite Internet connections ever—up to 1.2 gigabits per second, or 500 times the average American consumer connection. Unlike previous satellites, Kizuna is powerful enough to supply industrial-speed signals to small, inexpensive antennas on the ground. Another first: It tracks the weather and adjusts signal strength for specific regions accordingly; for example, it will send a stronger signal to an area where it’s raining in order to penetrate the storm. jaxa.jp/projects/sat/winds

This is all well and good except that until now, everyone (except for those in the know) are still in the dark as to when this thing will actually start serving the Southeast Asian region.

Hey Kizuna guys! How about throwing us a bone and let us know when you’re actually going to go live? Our current providers are keeping us imprisoned here, c’mon, put us out of our misery. :)
