It’s the Grand Slam of the Asia-Pacific once again and the third world geek is again on the edge of his seat keeping his fingers crossed and praying to high heavens that his boy Roger Federer would win once again lift the trophy of this year’s Australian Open. The Federer Express was derailed last year by the eventual champion Novak Djokovic but then again he wasn’t perfectly fit at the beginning of the year. Hopefully this year he is 100% well and playing like the man he used to be.
HAWK-EYE TECHNOLOGY
The game of tennis has really evolved from the time gents were wearing white trousers and carrying wooden rackets. Tennis pros these days have all kinds of technologically advanced gears and equipment, and playing more powerful tennis than ever. Even the on-court technology has evolved. One technology that has really impacted the game is the point replay made possible by hawk-eye technology.

Hawk-Eye is a computer system used in cricket, tennis and other sports to visually track the path of the ball and display a record of its actual path as graphic image. In some sports, like tennis, it is now part of the adjudication process. It is also able to predict the future path of a ball. It was developed by engineers at Roke Manor Research Limited of Romsey, Hampshire in the UK, in 2001. – Wikipedia
The Hawk-eye officiating system was first used in the 2007 Wimbledon Championships.
