If you happen to like Philippine basketball, chances are, you’ve been to teampilipinas.blogspot.com. It’s just a simple site that aggregates the big news involving Philippine basketball (much like Pacland’s model). If you observe this site, you will see a lot of Google ads in there. That’s the most fundamental way of earning money by blogging. Visitors go to your blogsite, and you earn money via the page impressions (or visits), if these visitors click on the ads, there will be a higher rate of pay; these are what we call ‘click throughs’.
I once joined a forum where the owner of teampilipinas site participated, and he shared with us that in one month alone, his income coming from google ads amounted to around P9K++. I’m not sure how much he is earning now from that blog per month.
Other source of blog income come from affiliate programs like amazon.com, blogrush.com, etc.. where they put their ads on your site, and when somebody clicks on these items and actually buys them, you get a commission from the sale. As your blog becomes more popular, so is it’s earning potential. You will then have some sponsors asking to put their logo’s on your site for a fixed monthly fee.
But the most steady source of blog income in my opinion comes from those sites who will pay you to blog. These sites partner with advertisers, and they ask you to review these advertisers products and services in your site. Fees can range from $5-200 per review post. Considering that there are a lot of these sites in the web (payperpost, sponsoredreviews, smorty, bloggerwave, etc..), making just 2 reviews a day could give you a decent enough extra income every month.
Like most things in life however, there is no shortcut to success. You have to really work hard to develop your blog and increase your readership to boost your site rankings to make it extra palatable to advertisers and readers alike.
But once you’re established, there’s no limit to how much you will be able to earn just by blogging.
