Federer Finally Wins A French!

[ad#PSP336]
Roger Federer finally won the French Open championship in his 11th attempt, just like Andre Agassi. He’s now the 6th man in history to win all four Grand Slam tournaments after Andre who achieved the feat 10 years ago. He has also tied Pete Sampras’ total Grand Slam haul of 14 although Roger achieved it at almost half the time that Pete did.

I almost felt teary eyed myself when I saw Roger shedding humungous tears of joy while the outclassed Robin Soderling was making his speech.  You really have to give it to Roger. His game in the championship match was rock solid especially those uncanny serves. He’s not the biggest server in tennis but I would bet that he’s at the top when it comes to placement and accuracy. How could a guy who doesn’t serve that big be leading everybody else in terms of number of aces? Unbelievable.

What I really find astounding is Roger’s record in Grand Slam events. He’s managed to reach the finals (except for the Australian Open last year when he lost in the semis to Djokovic) of every Grand Slam in the last 4 years. That is truly amazing!

His consistency in big events is just outstanding. I do hope he reclaims the Wimbledon Crown this year. As for Nadal, we will see.

So here are the winners in this years version of the French Open:
