I have been conspicuously absent from this blog for a few days. That my country has been hit by a few typhoons is not the excuse I am going to put forth. I have been, how shall I put it, otherwise engaged. I have for the longest time been complaining about the sucky internet connection I have at home, so I decided to do something about it. I was also complaining about the very few SEO related tools that I can install in my Mac so I did something about that too. I also took the plunge and jailbreak’ed my iPhone out of its ‘exclusivity’ so now I can use any SIM I want. And yes, I didn’t have to go to greenhills this time just to have it unlocked– I did it with a little help of the internet and some cheek.
Last week, I finally called Skybroadband and had them install a 6mbps internet connection in my home. Yep it costs a little bit more than usual (around $80/month) but can you really put a price on contentment and that giddy feeling when you watch videos online without any lag? Lately I’ve been catching up on my One Piece episodes and even managed to watch the Timothy Bradley vs Nate Campbell online. I’ve been downloading torrents like crazy as well. I’m now very much updated on the latest Entourage episodes (admit it we all want to be rockstars if not moviestars). I’ve been to a lot of forums and people were saying that Skybroadband is only good for the first month. I’m still into my second week and I hope this holds out. I’ve been constantly checking my internet speed and it’s been clocking at 8mbps download and around 2mbps upload time. Those my friends are awesome speeds. Who would want to blog when you have internet speeds like that? Think about all the online porn.. err anime you can watch!
Prior to that, I also experimented on my iPhone. I made sure to back it up before harassing it with Pwnce and ultrasn0w. Suffice it to say that I was able to jailbreak it, unlock it, and now I can use my beloved Sun SIM with it. Very liberating actually and satisfying too. I will write about that experience in another email. Really, you can do it on your own. Some guys were asking if the benefit outweighs the cost of getting it unlocked considering that it’s against the TOS of those exclusive iPhone carriers. Well, fortunately for me, I got the iPhone as a freebie though still locked to Globe Telecom, the iPhone carrier in the Philippines. So I didn’t really care.
Can I say that the Mac is awesome? I have been wanting to download a lot of .exe stuff for some time now as I want to take my blogging to the next level. Unfortunately, most tools are .exe files so with a Mac, there’s very little I can do about it. With a little research, I learned of this awesome Mac utility called Boot Camp Assistant. This cool little program allows you to install another OS in your Mac and then you can just select which one to use whenever you feel the need to use non-Mac applications. I had difficulty at first because Boot Camp Assistant wasn’t included in my Leopard install. But again with a little bit of research, I learned that I can actually install this application from the Leopard installation CDs that came with my Mac when I purchased it. So after installing it, I got out my version Windows and installed it in the partition I created. With that done, I was able to download all those applications I want and run them whenever I want using Windows’ OS. Pretty, pretty, sweet.
So on to my obsessive fascination with rankings. I have to say that July wasn’t very comforting. My rankings hit the snag and everything has been plateauing at 170K. It sucks but I am now filled with other ideas to take my blogs to the next level. I actually have around 8 blogs running now, but with my work commitments, I don’t really have enough time to work on them everyday. I am rethinking my outsourcing strategy and have even bought a scary little tool that might just work. It costs a lot but believe me, this tool has the potential to err… put your sites in Google’s sandbox. That’s how scary it is. I’ll probably take a few days worth of vacation leave just to get this one up and running with my elves. I can only imagine the potential. When it’s successful though, I’ll be sure to NOT tell you about it. :) It could be my ticket out of my cubicle.
Oh well, enough with the daydreaming.

[...] that can run on a Mac. Unfortunately, that search was for naught. So I decided to just utilize the Mac’s Boot Camp Assitant and install a Windows OS in the partition that it will create. I must say it was a good decision. [...]
wow… 8 blogs pala ha! ;)
hahaha!
That Bootcamp software is really great, it makes a huge difference for a Mac user to be able to run exe files. Good luck to you with your secret new tool!
The tool was like a nuclear bomb in my hands. I had to let it go. lol. I'd stick to the slowly but surely routine. I guess I'm not that evil yet. Sigh.
I think you are a huge adsense earner. Hehe… Am I right? I wish I could also make it on the 100k alexa level.
Dude,
Mac, iphone, and anime. Okay, I have geeky love towards those three stuff you mentioned in your post. For the other stuff, let's discuss them elsewhere. hehehe.
Now I know who to ask to jailbreak an iphone, I don't have one yet, but that will soon be history ( I wish). Also, I just want to say that mac rocks! Am thinking of getting my parents a mac mini (thinking pare, not acting on it yet). Will probably need to get that boot camp for their other wordly use. LOL. But, I may be able to teach them how to use pages or even keynote. hehehe.
Bookmark ko na tong site mo pare ha, okay lang?
