If you’re as big a fan of the Thesis theme as me, then you should be very familiar with the usual woes that thesis theme users complain about. But before that lemme ask you this, are you already using Thesis? No? Golly gee whiz, you’re missing out– a lot! Except for what I’m gonna discuss below, the Thesis theme is a freakishly awesome theme. Especially for SEO. This theme allows me to raise the dead and walk on water. Nah, not even close to that. But kidding aside, using Thesis gets me indexed in Google for a very, very short time. My record has been two minutes I think. That means that two minutes after I hit the publish button, I can already see my article in Google. Page one nonetheless. That’s probably not gonna happen often. I’m just lucky to have one of those sites that’s an absolute monster on a particular keyword. I post a blog for example on that keyword, and boom! Page one. No joke.
Anyway, as I was saying if you still haven’t bought Thesis, then you really, really, ought to. It’s one of your best investments if you’re thinking of furthering your blogging addiction. This one will definitely send you to rehab, but for sure you’ll say no, no, no. If I’ve convinced you with my persuasion powers and what not, the most important thing to do next is to go to the thesis site and buy it using my affiliate link. I can’t overemphasize how important using my link is. Just click on the icon below and buy. Now. Do it.

Alright, now that I’ve got that out of my system, we go to our collective woes. I mean the Thesis users collective woes. If you’re a non-creative person like myself, one who can’t tweak thesis to make it pretty even if your life depended on it, don’t worry, you are not alone. Group hug everyone. Being an extremely creative-talent-challenged individual, I have to be content on changing the number of columns, the font, and the background color. You really should see my other Thesis sites. Gad, what train wrecks.
And basically that’s it. The only problem with Thesis is that although it’s highly customizable, a lot of folks, me on the forefront, don’t have the creative juices to make our sites awesome. True we should already be satisfied with the awesome SEO powers it has. But we are men! And as men, well, we just want more. Sorry ladies, ‘we are men’, has a certain ring to it but of course I’m talking about everyone.
So Mr. Pearson, you brilliant person you, why not give us a little more prepackaged Thesis designs? Surely the bloody stumps that we have right now after surrendering some of our limbs to buy your excellent theme should be motivation enough for you to squeeze your awesome brain some more for a few cookie cutter thesis designs right? That would be really really cool.
Anyway, if Mr Pearson is still busy counting the greens and couldn’t be bothered with my request, then we could all head on over to thesisthemes.com where they offer some free skins for thesis. True, there are premium skins there, but for the love of shakira almighty, haven’t we shelled enough moolah to be buying another skin? Maybe it’s just the cheapskate in me but I refuse to buy any premium thesis skin! Shelling out another $50 is already beyond my nature.
Well actually, the free thesis skins there are already quite the catch. As you can see, I’m already wearing my new skin. Looks fine doesn’t it? And the loading time and the seo benefits of Thesis aren’t lost either. Not too shabby eh? There are other free skins there and if you still want some more, you can also head on over to themethesis.com where you can find a couple more.
In the mean time, I have a white strip in some of my pages here that I just couldn’t scratch. I just hope the guys at thesisthemes.com would actually reply to my support request. Even if I’m only using their free thesis skin.

Well, Third World Geek…thanks for having the pelotas to address the lack of included skins that come with a Thesis “developer’s” license. I’m sure many people have had the fear of being too bold and honest. No matter what anyone claims about respecting freedom of opinion and speech…you know you run a huge risk of being branded negatively for being sincerely outspoken.
While I have no remorse about having acquired probably the best tool of its kind with Thesis…even though more than a few viable competitors have been popping up…with MUCH more truly free skin/theme inventory included. What is shocking to discover is the scant amount of quality designed, ready made, truly FREE skin options that are available…not FREE with gaping gray area exceptions that leave you wondering if you’re going to be busted for misinterpretation of “personal non-commercial” purposes. Who ISN’T trying to make money on the Web??…very few I’d be willing to bet.
I would’ve gladly paid another $40-$50 for the Developer Option to get even 20 included skins that are quality, cutting edge designs…that make it easy to get your first site up quickly with very little modification…but also knowing it’ really attractive…with something more than vanilla design appeal. Woo has 50+ themes that are EXTREMELY beautiful high quality designs. Funny…I just clicked on a site link (http://bradnix.com) showcased on ThesisThemes.com as “running Thesis Bold” and thought “Wow, that DOES look sharp…how did they do that on Thesis?”. Then I looked at the footer which displays the WooThemes logo. Obviously, he made a swithch. My point exactly.
I know I’m not addressing, and most may never appreciate the SEO and UI aspect of Thesis compared to other competitors…but I also haven’t addressed the costs of additional client site option packages…and surely there are other aspects to be considered to make fair comparisons. But I do know that if the Thesis skin inventory doesn’t grow in size and design appeal real soon… my next discretionary $200 will be forced to diversify into a larger inventory scenario like Woo.
I suggest Chris calls on his loyal Thesis skin designers to give up or come up with their BEST 2 skins to be contributed to the included Developer Option skin inventory…for now…with a pledge of more to included skins to come very SOON.
